NVivo software is designed to help you manage and analyse data that is not easily reduced to numbers. In NVivo, you can create a project to store documents; organise documents; attach ideas to text (known as Nodes in NVivo), and find patterns among your ideas. NVivo is a tool that can be used in many ways to achieve your goals.

The program accommodates a wide choice of source file formats, including documents, rich text, PDF, and multimedia such as images, audio and video. NVivo adds the ability to manage social media content and capture web pages for the first time. Coding is enhanced with highlighting and coding stripes and queries can be created to extract the maximum amount of information from the data.

NVivo has seamless integration with reference management software such as EndNote; social networking tools such as Twitter and Evernote, and webpage capture using NVivo's NCapture tool.

Survey data collated in an Excel spreadsheet, which contains numerical and text entries can now be imported and coded as datasets. There are also many visualisation tools available, including models, charts, tree maps, cluster analysis, etc.
